Amy Piaskowski is a Printmaker, Photographer, Graphic Designer, and Artist at Shameless Press. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Printmaking from The University of Mississippi in May of 2013. After leaving the University, Amy decided to return to Ocean Springs, a picturesque small town on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with an artsy flair. When Amy isn't glued to her sketchbook, she spends time playing with her two rambunctious chihuahuas, going to listen to live music, traveling, and reading.
Amy's artwork has mainly been created using the Relief style of Printmaking. The process consists of drawing the image backwards onto matrix (a piece of wood, linoleum, etc.) and carving out the image using wood chisels and gouges. After the matrix is finished, a brayer (roller) is used to coat the matrix with ink. The matrix is then sent with high quality paper through the press or burnished by hand (creating pressure with a baren, wooden spoon, rolling pin, etc.) to get the final image.
